This gorgeous Victorian antique ring is crafted from rich 18ct yellow gold with 5 graduated antique diamonds.
The diamonds are antique Old Brilliant Cut Diamonds, originally mined and cut pre-1930. Old Cuts have slightly different proportions to the modern brilliant cut, with a deeper crown and flat cullet. It would have been shaped and faceted without the modern technology the diamond industry relies on today, making an old cut diamond something to admire.
The total carat weight is approximately 1.25ct and each stone is unique. The diamonds in this ring, are not the sort of diamond we regularly see - they have visible inclusions and show a brown tinge - not the usual clear clean white modern diamond jewellery. However they go well in the yellow gold setting and have a natural subtle sparkle, which is quite charming.
We can date the ring to the Victorian period, as it has an good clear hallmark, dating it to London 1896. It is in good condition for its antique age and has been professionally cleaned and polished to perfection and fully checked and tested so you can buy with confidence.
The ring measures 18mm x 6mm across the gem section and 2.2mm at the back of the hoop.
The ring is currently a size Q. If you require an alternative size, please contact our store.
